the queer comedy club
About Us
Our Story
In 2022 two friends decided to create an incredible space where LGBTQ+ comedians could perform together for LGBTQ+ audiences. We started as a single night a month and grew over a number of months to be weekly, roped in an extra friend and then established the UK’s very first LGBTQ+ stand up comedy club and now we’re based in our permanent home in our purpose built comedy club in Elephant & Castle, London with shows five days a week!
We’re now part of the Milli Group that includes Betty & Joan’s, a incredible gay bar that QCC is based in plus our own production company, Milli Productions, responsible for creating incredible shows, podcasts and broadcast content by and for queer people and allies.
Our club is a safe and supportive environment where newer queer comedians can hone their skills while more established acts develop new material. It allows us to curate club nights that mix the best new talent with more experienced comedians, all drawn from our community and ready to make LGBTQ+ audiences howl with laughter. And it has become a creative community that is bringing more diversity into stand-up by nurturing, developing and encouraging more queer comedians to find their voice and take it into the wider world.
The Queer Comedy Club has been certified a LGBTQ+ safe space by independent governing body Queerify.
The Queer Comedy Club is a member of Get Off Live Comedy, an industry HR organisation which aims to eradicate sexual harassment in live comedy.
